After filling the gap between the window and roof with sealer, Charlie uses a mallet to force the seal back in place. If you’re working with stainless-steel trim you should still use a sealer. It helps prevent leakage around the window and under the edge of your new top. On some older model cars the drip rail is an integral part of the roofline.

Trim your top into the valley of the drip rail, and then fill it with silicone sealer. Use your finger to smooth it out. Start at one end and work to the other, leaving a concave surface for the water to run down. Replace all the weather strip, being sure it’s fastened securely. Use sealer anywhere there might be a chance for water to come in.
